EASTON HOCKEY INKS MINNESOTA DEFENSEMAN BRENT BURNS TO MULTI-YEAR EXTENSION
Wild’s Top Defender Will Don Head-to-Toe Easton
VAN NUYS, Calif. (October 8, 2009) – Easton Hockey today announced the signing of a multi-year, head-to-toe contract extension with Minnesota Wild standout defenseman Brent Burns.
As an Easton endorsee, Burns will wear and market Easton Hockey gear, as well as participate in the brand’s global marketing campaign “Confidence Is Everything.” The Minnesota blue-liner will also be involved in the development of future Easton designs.
“Flat out, Easton has the best gear on the market,” Burns said. “I’m not going to use a stick that’s almost as good – I want the premiere equipment head-to-toe, and that’s what Easton is offering.”
Burns had his most productive season in 2007-2008, scoring 43 points and leading the Wild to their third postseason appearance in franchise history. A dual-threat, Burns is known for his scoring ability as well as his tenacious defense. The 2003 first-round draft pick will look to lead Minnesota back to the playoffs this season.
“Brent Burns is a fine defenseman,” said Mark Hughes, Director of Sports Marketing and Athletes for Easton Hockey. “What he’s been able to do with an Easton stick the last few years is really a testament not only to his incredible skill, but to the innovative equipment we bring to the rink at Easton.”
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
