EASTON HOCKEY SIGNS BUFFALO CENTER DEREK ROY TO MULTI-YEAR EXTENSION
Sabres Star Will Don Head-to-Toe Easton Gear
VAN NUYS, Calif. (September 2009) – Easton Hockey today announced the signing of a multi-year, head-to-toe contract extension with Buffalo Sabres rising star Derek Roy.
As an Easton endorsee, Roy will wear and market Easton Hockey gear, as well as participate in the brand’s global marketing campaign “Confidence Is Everything.” The former Memorial Cup MVP, and member of Team Canada will also be involved in the development of future Easton designs.
“The attention to detail and performance clearly sets Easton apart from any other product I have tried,” Roy said. “You cant replace the confidence you get knowing your playing with the best equipment available.”
Roy had 63 points in 2006-2007, leading the Sabres to the Presidents’ Trophy for the best regular-season record. He followed that up with a career- and team-best 81 points in 2007-2008. As a junior player in the Ontario Hockey league, Roy led the Kitchener Rangers to the 2003 Memorial Cup championship, where he was named MVP.
“Derek Roy has been very successful and is only getting better,” said Mark Hughes, Director of Sports Marketing and Athletes for Easton Hockey. “His skill, and vision together with our innovative Easton products, makes for an exciting combination on the ice.”
