EASTON HOCKEY SIGNS NHL ALL-STAR, NORRIS TROPHY WINNER ZDENO CHARA TO MULTI-YEAR EXTENSION
Boston Bruin Captain Will Don Head-to-Toe Easton Gear
VAN NUYS, Calif. (September 2009) – Easton Hockey today announced the signing of a multi-year, head-to-toe contract extension with NHL All-Star and Norris Trophy winner Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins.
As an Easton endorsee, Chara will wear and market Easton Hockey gear, as well as participate in the brand’s global marketing campaign “Confidence Is Everything.” The Slovakian-born Bruins Captain will also be involved in the development of future Easton designs.
“I’m in the prime of my career, and I don’t want to mess with what works,” Chara said. “The Norris Trophy, the hardest shot, all of it came while I was wearing Easton gear.”
In addition to being a four-time All-Star, Chara is also the reigning champion of the NHL’s Hardest Shot Competition. He broke the 16-year-old SuperSkills record this year by blasting a puck 105.4 miles per hour. Known for his strong work ethic and focus on the ice, the defenseman was instrumental in helping the Bruins achieve the lowest goals-per-game average last season with 2.29 per.
“Zdeno Chara is one of the great defensemen of this era and truly one of the most unique athletes in sports with his stature on the ice,” said Mark Hughes, Director of Sports Marketing and Athletes for Easton Hockey. “What he’s been able to do with an Easton stick the last few years is really a testament not only to his incredible skill, but to the innovative equipment we bring to the rink at Easton.”
Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
