Position Overview
EBS is looking for a web programmer/developer to use their experience and judgment to enable our strategy and design/execute future upgrades.  The person who performs this role must use their independent judgment to determine the best approach and technologies to deploy to accomplish this objective.

He or She must work independently to design and develop recommended solutions based on input from our marketing and development teams.  This will require a working knowledge of standard tools, learning the EBS technical environment, and consulting with the marketing team to prioritize efforts.  After having achieved a standards-based outsourced environment, this role will include managing the conversion of marketing designs into technical specifications and subsequent design structure, programming, testing, deployment and maintenance of each EBS web site.  This role will be an advocate for standards compliant best practices at all levels of web development.  This role will work with the Digital Marketing and Commerce team and IT, on design and development concerns to ensure an effective and efficient workflow for the overall development cycle within given budgetary constraints.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of all EBS websites.
  • Participate in and contribute to the planning process for new projects and give input on specific technologies utilized to complete projects
  • Responsible for working with outside agencies to provide technical recommendations and participate in design and implementation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced team environment and flexible enough to accommodate demanding project schedules

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 4-5 years web programming /development experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming languages
  • Expert knowledge of PHP/MySQL required
  • Must be familiar with web services such as XML RPC
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of HTML, HTML standards and CSS (Must be able to do this from a text editor not a WYSIWYG editor. Cross browser compatibility.)
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of JavaScript and JavaScript APIs (eg AJAX, jQuery, Prototype)
  • Must be familiar with relational-databases, integration, database caching, database optimization and MySQL queries as well as object-oriented databases
  • Must be comfortable running commands in a UNIX environment as well as version control SVN
  • Experience creating and/or maintaining Open Source content management systems, preferably WordPress or similar
  • Experience working with e-commerce solutions preferred (Magento)
