Strongest BMC Racing Team To Date Will Rely On Cutting-Edge Easton Wheels For 2010 Campaign
(Scotts Valley, Calif., Nov. 18, 2009) An incredibly competitive BMC Racing team has selected Easton as its exclusive wheel supplier for the 2010 racing season, citing Easton’s durability, dependability and lightweight performance. BMC’s team will pedal more than half a million miles in 2010, and the squad is excited by Easton’s arsenal of wheel choices. For 2010 BMC Racing will include marquee names such as current World Champion Cadel Evans, 2009 World Champion Alessandro Ballan, American Champion George Hincapie and top Dutch professional Karsten Kroon.
”A technical partnership with Easton starting in 2010 is an ideal opportunity to build on our established relationship with Easton for bars, stems and cockpits,” says the team’s General Manager Gavin Chilcott. “In addition to having confidence in Easton products, we are excited to align with a company that has a strong inclination toward technological development and optimization. Achieving our sports objectives is integrally linked to both reliability and performance of the wheels.”
“Having Cadel, George, Alessandro and the rest of the team on Easton wheels will increase our profile tremendously on the global racing scene,” says Chuck Platt, Senior Sports Marketing Manager. “They will be able to provide us with volumes of feedback from the world’s biggest races. They will help us fine-tune our already excellent product and make Easton a recognized brand among riders who demand top performance.”
Easton will provide the BMC Racing Team with an arsenal of wheel choices as they prepare for the 2010 classics and stage races. In the mountains, they will use the EC90 SLX, a light but stiff and ultra- dependable tubular that weighs a feathery 1,175 grams. For rolling stages, the BMC squad will most likely rely on the 1,335-gram EC90 Aero carbon tubulars. The wind-tunnel-tuned EC90 TT will be used for the always critical time trials in the major tours.
